A great werewolf book: "Raised by Wolves"

Following the paranormal genre, I wanted to talk to you about a very good book I read last month: Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
Even though it is a werewolf book it manages to escape certain stereotypes and surprise the reader. Its main character, Bryn, is a human girl who was in fact "raised by wolves". Living amidst a werewolf pack after being attacked by a rabid werewolf when she was a small kid, Bryn learnt everything about living with wolves... That is untill Chase appears in her life.

There is some romance in this book but it is not the "mushy" kind of romance we typically find in many YA novels, it is very down to Earth and almost "wolflike". It is not what the reader tends to expect but fullfils expectations non the less.
I personally enjoyed very much the way in which the author describes wolf pack interactions, she obviously did her homework on the matter really well! She applies real wolf ethologhy traits almost to the werewolf packs in the novel and thus manages to make them completely believable. Completely superb!

Another plus I found on the book? Are you still not convinced? Well, let me tell you something else I liked... There is a book two!
I love yet hate finnishing a good book. It leaves me with a bitter-sweet taste, yet if I liked the book and know there is a sequel I feel relieved! Sometimes I just want more! I want to keep on reading about the characters... And in this case there is a book two, yey!

I have not read it yet, but it is waiting for me to read it...

Vampire Journals DVD

Amidst the craze of "Vampire Diaries" which I personally love (the books, not the TV series), I came across a movie with a similar name: "Vampire Journals".

It is a 90's movie that steps aside from the main current Hollywood movies, artistic and well developed, it portrays an interesting story with an apparent low budget.
Without huge special effects it tells the story of a vampire that rejects his immortality and desires revenge from those who made him what he is.

I enjoyed watching it and following this vampire through his journey while he intends to save a musician from an equal fate.

Beautiful wardrobe and macabre settings enhance the beauty of this (previously unknown for me) movie. I believe it is based on a book whick I have not yet read, but as soon as I find out more I'll keep you posted!

What is "The Vampire Canvas" about?

Welcome to The Vampire Canvas!
The idea in this blog is to discuss and share various things... from book reviews to news and even some random stuff. I love books, so I will frequently post book reviews and my oppinions on books I read. I'd specially like to recieve your comments on those. Sharing views with other readers will be awesome!

Being an author myself, sometimes I will even tell you about what I'm writing and give you first hand information on things such as book giveaways and things I'm currently working on.

I decided to call this blog The Vampire Canvas because I personally love vampire literature and my latest novel "Distract my hunger" would also fall under that genre. Still, not all posts will be about vampires (or books)... the random factor makes things interesting too I believe. Different things will luckily intertwine harmonically and make this a true "canvas"...

I hope you enjoy reading this blog and that you help me make things quite interactive!
